Hold down mat help

I’m sorry if this has been covered before but I have waded through SO many posts and can’t find the answer…

If I am using some type of mat (Seklema, plywood etc.) to adhere cardstock to for cutting, do I enter in the thickness of the mat and the paper to cut correctly? What about the focus? I think I need to enter the full thickness of both materials but adjust the focus height, but I’m not sure.

Yes. Both material thickness & focus should be set to the combined thickness unless you’re defocussing for a specific purpose.

Ok so enter the combined thickness for material thickness and focus? And then just do my regular settings for cardstock? Thank you!
