If the MDF is proofgrade draftboard, there is a default setting for it.
If it’s random MDF I’d start there, and run tests (check out #6) - or reach out to the seller for settings if it was sold as laser safe.
If it’s from Home Despot or the like it might not cut at all, a lot of MDF is made with glues that a laser can’t cut.
Yeah, when I am forced to use MDF if it is acting funky on the GF I cut it on the x-carve but god it makes an awful mess (despite a cyclonic separator on the duct evacuation system it still manages to clog up the HEPA filter)
I always buy my mdf from GS2 Awards and have never had a problem cutting it on my Basic GF. I just use the pg settings. I do make sure that I clean all the lenses before cutting, and after every third cutting project, otherwise it won’t cut through.
