It’s great to hear from you. I hope your place came off relatively unscathed.

I forgot what tey called them but as i am in bathroom someone came and said that we were leaving right away andnthey were helping pam pack.so of course several totally p_soaked sets of pants so naturally the shoved in Pam’s C-Pap the eletronics and who knows what else and tied the end in a tight knot,

The electricity was on in ost of the place but not out street so here we sit again at the sherter, long time after dark trying to put our stuff together (Pam needs her c-pap to sleep and i hope we are ready before the lights goout

FPL is trying to get 95% of the power restored by next Thursday. Hopefully they get you power before that (assuming you’re on FPL).

At least everything appears to have calmed down for the next week according to NHC.

Still none for us. Now in new state shelter in Pasco County. Was one disabled toilet for hundreds of disabled residentisos with lines 5-6 long. This morning they added three more but is very disorganized.

Still nu electric at home.shelter is set up for thousands but has hundreds

So is it because your area was hard hit or do you just have extremely bad luck because of the areas south of you getting hit so hard?

I’m sorry you are still in the shelter, but I’m glad you escaped the worst case scenario.

All of our electricity was underground which was great for the wind except there was a tree that got blown down and ripped up all of the underground cables which is why we do not have electricity yet. :frowning_with_open_mouth:

Ours was all underground as well - but sooner or later it goes above ground and the transition point was what went down and took ours out for two weeks.

The good part of that is they can fix one thing and bring thousands of people back online at once.

Or someone hit a tree and thousands are out for days.

Earlier this year, the local power company in Boulder preemptively cut power to hundreds of customers during a high-wind event. Makes total sense as it was the same area impacted by the Marshall fire a few years ago. Only problem was that it took multiple days to get everyone’s power turned back on. Major black eye for Xcel Energy.

I am glad you are home - and I hope there are no more evacuations on the horizon.

As we were among the last to leave, there were 4 toilets for a dozen people and three folk for cleaning each one. But if there was no chance to go home they had plenty privately owned “nursing” homes eager for your business.

While it is still possible, someone needs to get a 4" thick slice of the bottom of a tree brought down in this last hurricane where it has all that burl wood and make a nice table.
The table would be unique as where else would you find a Milton Burl Table :dotted_line_face:

Not likely to be a big storm, but at the moment Pensacola is in the crosshairs of the latest one.
