Congrats! Stoked to see what you do with it and great first print. Thanks for the tip to cut down on noise.
Where did the design come from? Is it something you saved for this moment? Something you made yourself (I love it, that is why I am asking)
Wow! Congratulations!
So happy you had success with the unbox > print! Glad it was easy for you Please pardon all the fingerprints and smudges as we were working very hard to make sure this machine fit the bill.
Rita and I were hoping you’d call out sick today and binge print. Hope for insane snowday!
That’s smart, I had no bubble wrap but instead I used a couple old down jackets and it worked GREAT. Good with insulating the cold outside air from entering inside!
I know it’s 2017 and this saying is so 2016 but… it’s LIT!!!
Great set-up and excited to see what you are going to create @takitus!
Awesome! Loving seeing more of them popping up out there!
Gorgeous cut! Reminds me of ElfQuest…
I hear that !!! congrats on the GF!!! Loooking so forward to seeing posts from you !!! yeaaaaa-
Excellent choice GF!
Very cool 1st job! You are uniquely positioned to compare the two machines.
Excited for you!
Congrats!
That first print is absolutely beautiful… and as someone who is highly sensitive to sound, I really appreciate the bubble wrap suggestion.
Woohoo! Delighted to see it arrived safe and sound. And I can’t tell you how happy I am about the 20 minute thing.
Congrats you lucky son of a beehive keeper!
Great, now I’ll be losing even more hours checking to see what all you creative pre-release people are doing next. Long live the BURNINATOR!
This is great and so happy 20 min is constant with other people.
Great work on your first project, you are a great pick given your interest in engrave
Should I be graced with a pre release unit I already have a first 20min project lined
Happy for you and glad you received it!
Will definitely try the noise dampening solution. Nice wolf. Enjoy the heck out of it.
SQUEEEEE! I’m delighted to see that you’re a recipient! Yay Burninator! And, I LOVE the design you cut first. That’s exactly the kind of coolness I’m looking forward to bringing into the world.
Ditto all of the above.
Beautiful first project.
Totally awesome.
Enjoy the heck outta that thing.
@takitus as someone with lots of laser know how, how does the burninator and accompanying software compare?
I know this is going to be a question everyone wants an answer to, and I plan to go into it in a bit more depth pretty soon.
The short answer is that it’s so much nicer to deal with this workflow. I actually want to use the glowforge because its not a huge hassle to get anything cut. There are a lot of things I just didnt make because doing it on the k40 just straight up sucked.
Also, once the plugins for all of the applications hit it will be even better. The fact that I can pull in a single SVG to perform all operations is a HUGE time saver. You cant imagine. Before I had to make multiple bitmap files at the right resolution, one for each operation per piece (if it was a cut operation). I had to know what the dimensions were exactly going in because the software didnt autodetect it. I would have to save file names like ‘stargate_cut_215x220.bmp’ etc. If I forgot to start out at 300dpi or whatever I was cutting at, I would have to start over from scratch. No longer…
Ill put a post together a bit later to show how much better the workflow process is with the glowforge when I have time to go into more detail.
Oh not a problem, it smelled good and tested when I got it which was pretty motivating to get it running!
I was really hoping I could take the day off as well, but only a half day. Ill be showing the girlfriend how to use it tonight and all my maker friends already know about it, so hopefully an engraving party will be happening in the near future!
