Info: Adobe Illustrator Virtual Summit -- May 20-23, 2025

The first ever Adobe Illustrator Virtual Summit is happening May 20-23, 2025.

It is free (you get 48 hours after a course is posted to view it) or you can buy a pass to view the courses whenever you want. I’ve been attending the virtual summits for Photoshop and Lightroom since they started. I always learn something.

The other summits for Photoshop and Lightroom have been really good. I think you’ll like it.

Thanks! Going to sign up now.
I have dental work on the 20th so we’ll see if I’ll be up for it.

it’s available for 48 hrs after release for free to rewatch. you’d have to pay the $99 early bird to have permanent access to them, but anything on the 20th will be available for a couple of more days.

i would have liked to have done the lightroom. i get lots of photoshop at adobe max, but never seem to have time to go to lightroom sessions. i don’t use lightroom for work much, so it’s hard to justify a session on the company dime when there are other sessions that would benefit work more.

It’s an implant, so I may be under the weather for several days. I hope I’m well enough for the following Monday. I have several things going on that day! I just can’t remember how I did when they placed the actual implant previously (not the crown, just the implant itself). I have several but I’m getting all the different parts mixed up. I know the extraction before the implant was the worst. lol At least I’m past all of that (did two at once). Only doing one of the implants right now, the other will be a little later.

Thanks for the heads up. I’d like to think they will be also talking about Illustrator for iPad, which has been shamefully neglected, but probably not.

Getting the post screwed in was pretty much no big deal. It’s the initial extraction that’s the worst part (& those don’t bother me too much). I prefer implants to root canals except for the time if I need a bone graft & that takes several months. Oh the $ bother me too  It doesn’t seem like they should cost so much more than the alternate procedures like root canals & bridges.

I just looked and I don’t see anything that is iPad specific. I don’t know why Adobe would ignore iPad when they’ve been leaning in on the iPhone so much for Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Express. I’m not an Apple anything user so it doesn’t affect me, but I do find it strange.

The schedule is linked here: AIVS Schedule

I’m also surprised I didn’t see anything about Adobe Illustrator Web, but this is an independent training event so they talk about what they want. Adobe has spent as much time talking about their web tool either, at least not as much as Photoshop web. Both are great tools when used with Firefly and/or Adobe Express.

my guess is they’re talking about the things they think are most likely to bring in an audience, and especially an audience that will pay for VIP. illustrator on phone/web just may not be popular enough to make that worthwhile for them.

PS/LR on the phone are super useful for lots of people, since most everyone takes photos on their phone. but actually creating vector graphics or editing them is a lot less commonly used.

Yup, you’re more than likely correct.

Scott Kelby has a 2-day Lightroom Conference May 13-14, 2025 for $150. I’m not going to this, but he has some of the same people that present at the LVS and PVS events

Speaking of LVS and PVS events there are 2 more Virtual Summits coming later this year.

I did some Scott Kelby LR training a long time ago, was great. (Sadly realizing now that I can’t remember a lot of it LOL was before I had kids.)

I have too, but I’ve pretty much given up on Kelby. He used to teach the stuff with Matt Kloskowski who is co-producing the LR summit in September.

I only added a link because I got an email today.

Yeah last year when I got the 2 extractions and bone grafts (at same time) for the two implants I need, that was brutal. Needed heavy duty antibiotics, too.

I wish I had a clue about Illustrator. I’m learning from square one.

Grab the free pass. There is an intro to Illustrator course that they’ve published already.

There is all kinds of free training on Youtube from Adobe and others.

And you can always ask questions here. There are quite a few Illustrator users here.

Actually, it looks like you can just go here and watch the videos - there are 7 available.

I thought I was relatively proficient with Illustrator, but I did something relatively complicated with it yesterday and I spent many hours digging around to figure out some of the more obscure features. There was much swearing and hair-pulling, and in the end I had to give up on one of the things I really wanted to do my way and just accept the limitations of the software. It did also make me think a lot about the conceptual model; like a lot of programs, you can use it extensively without really understanding it, but wrapping your head around “how it sees the world” eventually makes a lot of things easier.

I would love to turn project I did into a tutorial… eventually.

That video you made (years ago at this point) was a great jump start for me using AI with the laser.

I keep thinking I should do more tutorials now too, but a lot of what I’ve been using Illustrator for is to make stuff for the 3D printer. The workflow to get a file ready for Fusion 360 and getting it ready for the laser is identical.
