Has anyone tried to cut this leather from Michael’s? Says genuine leather but unsure if it is safe.
You should be fine, just be sure your vent/filter are setup properly.
The only real risk with leather is fake PVC-based leathers.

If it’s chrome tanned it could get rather smelly, though it’s likely not–but as well as the surface coating/dye could smell, but should be safe for etching–just do a small test, start with lower power/faster than you think you need, and watch it to ensure no issues when lasered. I’ve etched a lot of different types of leathers and weights, and really only stinky issue has been with pigskin…
