Joining Vectors

We are rolling out a new Premium tool in the Glowforge app: a Join tool that connects vector shapes together.

This feature can be used when you have two or more vector shapes that you want to combine into a single shape for cutting. Here is an example of using the tool to make customized ornaments:

First you select the objects you want to combine, and then (assuming they’re all vectors) you’ll see a Join button in the left toolbar:

Clicking that performs a single Join operation. Here’s what my shapes look like combined, after adding a cut hole and engravable date to it:

And the final result: adorable ornaments for the whole family!

This new feature will be turned on for all Glowforge Premium members over the coming weeks.

“Over the coming weeks” isn’t very specific, but typically Glowforge rolls things out over about four weeks, which would mean that most people if not all should have this by January 7, 2025.

Glowforge staff please correct me if I’m wrong.

Finally, could have used the feature earlier this year. Will defiantly need and use it next year.

Hopefully Rebekah will see your post, but if not, I suggest you contact support directly and have someone check on this for you. You can call them; +1-855-338-2122.

Double checking that you’re aware it only shows up when you have two vectors selected.

Still haven’t got the joining vectors application. I tried joining two vectors but nope… If I phone it will cost a fortune as I live in the uk. Any ideas?

2nd double check - are you on Premium (the monthly service)? If yes, and you select two vectors and don’t see the command - send an email to them with a screenshot showing everything from the material you’re working with on the left, and the name of the machine to the right - and encompassing both your selected vectors. That should be enough information for them to get you figured out, no phone call needed.

I also thought they had a UK contact number, but that may have gone away (or been a plan that never came to fruition!)
