We are rolling out a new Premium tool in the Glowforge app: a Join tool that connects vector shapes together.
This feature can be used when you have two or more vector shapes that you want to combine into a single shape for cutting. Here is an example of using the tool to make customized ornaments:
First you select the objects you want to combine, and then (assuming they’re all vectors) you’ll see a Join button in the left toolbar:
“Over the coming weeks” isn’t very specific, but typically Glowforge rolls things out over about four weeks, which would mean that most people if not all should have this by January 7, 2025.
Still waiting for the join tool… I am be being impatient? I am working on a project that would benefit from this. I LOVE my glowforge but everything helps lol

Still haven’t got the joining vectors application. I tried joining two vectors but nope… If I phone it will cost a fortune as I live in the uk. Any ideas?
2nd double check - are you on Premium (the monthly service)? If yes, and you select two vectors and don’t see the command - send an email to them with a screenshot showing everything from the material you’re working with on the left, and the name of the machine to the right - and encompassing both your selected vectors. That should be enough information for them to get you figured out, no phone call needed.
I also thought they had a UK contact number, but that may have gone away (or been a plan that never came to fruition!)
it’s january 27th and I still dont have the joining vectors feature turned on. Before you ask: yes i’m logged into my premium, yes i’m selecting 2 vectors (created the shapes using the GF interface), i even tried entering the material and cut settings and then selecting them but it’s just not there. Any info on why the rollout is taking so long and when we can expect it? “hopefully it will show up for you soon” isn’t really an answer. i already received the nesting feature and the new “learn” button but of course what I really need is the join feature
In case you really need the feature immediately, an external editor might help. For example Inkscape is free and does that and more. If you’re tired of waiting for Glowforge to slowly roll out design features that are “pretty good” then you might want to get on board with a proper external vector editor. You’ll never look back and you’ll never outgrow it.
Thanks for the unhelpful reply. I have AI and SS and if I wanted Inkscape I would just use that. I would prefer to have access to the feature in the GF interface for the convenience of being able to use one program- especially if I am using any of the “free with premium” designs that cannot be exported. This new feature was a influencing factor when I was considering cancelling my premium subscription which of course just renewed for a year in January. I am just trying to get a clear answer from glowforge on when it will be available because in December it was reported that likely within 4 weeks, and in the above thread I believe it indicates everyone should have it by January 7th. But now it’s “hopefully it will roll out to you soon” So please keep your snarky design comments to yourself if you dont have any helpful input.
I’d disagree with you there. I wasn’t speaking only to you, this discussion will be read by potentially thousands of people, who may or may not know about external editors.

If it’s any consolation I meant no snark, either in my last message or this one. I hope you get your join feature soon. It sounds like you have a work around with illustrator in the meantime but yes, it would be nice to know for sure when you might see the new join. Sounds like it’ll be good for your workflow.
