The last July update was a bit early, so here’s a second one to catch you up on all the latest happenings.
Shipping
Glowforge units continue to ship out of Milpitas to their homes all over the US (with international deliveries still forthcoming). This week, we’re switching to improved packaging that will dramatically increase the chance of a happy Glowforge unboxing for everyone. Four plastic handles make it easy for two people to carry. They’re really easy to open, too - you snap out those handles, which unlocks the lid so you can just lift it off. The cardboard is double thick, and the foam is incredibly dense and cushioning. Even better, the whole thing is smaller, so it’s easier to handle and store. I think you’re going to like it.
Pro
In other news, we’ve sent out the first Pro shipping notices and can’t wait to see them start arriving in homes.
We’ve been playing with them at the office, and it’s pretty neat to see what you can do with just a simple pattern and a big piece of plywood. Like these privacy screens, for private people.
Forum reorganization
Three big changes are coming to the forum soon. First, we’re going to be reorganizing the categories. Second, we’re going to start making official support available in the forum. Third, we’re going to give your friends and family who use your Glowforge limited access to post in the forum.
To make it easier to share advice and get support, we’re going to create two new categories:
Problems & Help: A place to get help on supported topics from our customer success team and community Glowforge experts. This section will be curated to be as helpful as possible: questions edited for clarity, answers highlighted, topics closed when done.
Beyond the Manual: A place to get help from the community on unsupported topics like third-party air filters, manual material settings, and just about anything else we don’t officially support.
We’ll watch the first one closely, and the second one little or at all. (Also, we’re going to merge “Project Inspiration” into “Everything Else”, and “Q&A” and “Problems and Support” into “Problems and Help”).
