I have a 3/4 of an inch cutting board to engrave and it keeps saying it must be less than 2 inches after removing the tray. I have never had a problem before. Why is this?
You have to put something under it so the surface is within 1/2" of the head. Do a forum search on “cutting without the tray” and you’ll find lots of information and tutorials.

Did you prop it up so the surface is near the same height as the crumb tray?
