24" x 30" solid maple depth map with engraved details.
This was a combination project. I used my Glowforge to cut out the letters and engrave the details I used a CNC to carve the reliefs and make the cutout for the inlayed frame around the Saugatuck section. To achieve the gradient blue I used blue dye stain mixed with water-base poly in varying concentrations. Overall a very fun project!
That is very nice! Love the use of multiple machines.
That is very cool to get your own custom colors that still let you see the wood grain!
Very nicely done!! Looks great!
lovely! I like the angle of the cut on the relief
What a great solution to making something wider than the glow forge can handle! good job!
Beautifully done! Congrats!
What did you use for the CNC Base? maple, how thick was it?
It was 1.8" thick maple. I milled down 8/4 rough sawn lumber and kept it as thick as I could.
