There was an experimental project displayed at Miami-Dade CC about making sustainable plywood from the leaves and pulp of sugarcane that has a similar range of colors. It was really quite gorgeous with the leaves providing long fibers. I don’t know what became of the project.
They are making a kind of MDF from processed cane but that is not as strong or pretty as the full leaves.
