Laser safe pet tag question

I know pet tags are a big thing around laser communities but I was wondering if anyone has a favorite brand that tends to be more rugged or not scratch as much? I’ve got a big ole maincoon kitty and he likes to get into tight spaces so id need something pretty robust for his tags.

To an extent anodized is anodized. You could try sealing it or putting a bumper around the edge, but aluminum wears and you get some loss of color on the edges.

I think a bit of clear coat over the finished engrave would work well.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking at this point

Honestly I think you might be over worried here.

For a real world example: this is after about 4 or 5 years of being on my every day keychain. It’s held up really well against keys rubbing against it and all of the abuse that keys take. Front and back:

the other point to make is… if you buy the tags just for yourself, you’ll likely have a bunch left over. and it’s easy to reengrave one if it does wear out.

That’s my approach. They are so cheap, I just engrave another one if needed. The “loop” at the top for the ring usually wears out before the engraving becomes too worn…
