Laser-safe Spray Paint?

Hey all!

I know that people have pointed out there are acrylic spray paints which are safe, and if you’re unsure, then you should find the msds for the particular product. I had some spray paint that would work for my project (would like to paint before lasering, then engrave the spray paint off). I found the msds for it, since it doesn’t say “acrylic” on the can. The problem is… I have no idea what I should be checking this list for. I know “vinyl” is a no go, but beyond that… ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

This is the MSDS sheet. Here’s the ingredient list in case you don’t want to tab out:

So, to quote my favorite podcast… am I good?

No chlorides, no crazy sulfur byproducts, looks pretty safe for the laser.

Just don’t breathe the fumes, like anything. Good ventilation, and you’re set.

Most of that stuff is the propellant and isn’t present in any significant amounts once the paint is dry.

For sure, Propane, n-Butane, Acetone, Propanol, Alcohol, Heptane, Octane, these are all volatile organics that are either gaseous coming out of the can or quickly turn to gas and evaporate away.
