Lasering old books

I wanted to use glow forge to laser some designs on old books…any suggestions on settings?

I’ve moved this to an appropriate forum. The Made on a Glowforge forum is for showcasing work you have done with the machine.

Book covers can be made from any number of materials. You’re going to need to experiment with the ones you have to determine suitable settings.

Yup, as always, try searching before asking.

Search for “engrave book” or “book cover” or what have you, that way we don’t have to spend so much time rewriting this sort of thing. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out the best search terms, but with a little trial and error, you can almost always find what you are looking for.

Another reiteration that every single book is different and you will need to plan for testing. The advice to start light and work up to an aesthetic you like is spot on. And some books don’t even engrave well at all no matter the settings. It really just depends on the book and the design you’re trying to accomplish.

I gave some settings advice on this thread:

Feel free to message me if you want to discuss in more detail.
