Laserpecker 4

I jumped on the laser pecker 4 Kickstarter at the start of the year, and it arrived a couple days ago. Set it up today and did a couple quick engraves. I bought the package with the table slider and rotary. Just thought I’d post here in case anybody had any questions once I start playing with it. A little bit of assembly required, but once it was together was engraving on a metal flashlight within 5 minutes, so pretty intuitive. The interface is actually on your phone, so we’ll see how that goes. It does have two lasers built in, but I bought it specifically for marking metal. Just another tool in the workshop but a nice compliment to my other lasers and 3D printers.

Pics of the flashlight?

Unfortunately it was my brother-in-law’s, and it had his name and phone number on it, so I don’t want to post that. I’ll do a few more examples tomorrow and post some pictures. The two tools that I did today were super clean and I was really impressed

Does this require the metal to be anodized or powder coated like the GF or how does it manage without the markings agent?

No, it will engrave the metal. No marking spray needed.

Here are the results from a few test pieces I tried this morning.

That’s cool. At the time I didn’t consider the LP4 too seriously, maybe I should have. A fiber laser would be nice.

Wow nice and dark.

Maybe you can buy this one off me. Soon after I ordered this, Aeon ran a special with 50% off their 50W Fiber laser, and I ordered it. Still hasn’t arrived, but should be here soon. The LaserPecker has 2 lasers though, so you can do cool tricks like engraving slate in multiple colors. I also have the rotary, so I plan on trying to engrave rings all the way up to mugs. I will use the Glowforge to make jigs for this too, and engrave things like knives, bottle openers, etc.

Wow, that is really nice! And the prices don’t look too bad either. I’ll have to keep this in mind.

Interesting. Can’t wait to hear more about it.

My firefighter brother in law came back today with another flashlight to engrave. Nothing fancy, but my first Nascar related request since moving to the south.

How long did that one take?

I think about 3 minutes, but I had it set to the highest 8K resolution, cuz I wasn’t in a hurry
