Last minute Solar Ellipsis Viewer (SIC)

Forgot to make an eclipse projector? Make one in a few minutes with any piece of opaque scrap and this design:

Solar Ellipsis Viewer

Do NOT look at the eclipse directly though the holes!!!

With your back to the Sun, hold the viewer so that the shadow is projected on the ground in front of you. You’ll see the ellipsis (sic) in the center of the oval shadow. :sunglasses:

Btw, this is an in-joke for Wes Anderson fans. If you haven’t seen Asteroid City, you should catch it “free” on Prime Video.

Enjoy.

As always, to download the file, right-click on the graphic and “Save As…” an SVG.

Thank you! I might make one even though I have eclipse glasses. In our area we will get 99% totality (we got 100% in 2017, so lucky I guess). However, at peak we are expecting mostly cloudy skies. Hoping that won’t be the case.

We’ve had people down the street trying to sell eclipse glasses. But it won’t even come near our area, plus it’s rainy today!
