I’ve started using flock as a box liner. The advantage of flock over felt is that it can be seemless (glue is painted over the whole surface, then flock is, well, flocked onto the glue). That might be overkill for this simple case, but I’ve been having fun with it:

One of the neat things is that you can cut the liner out very easily with the Glowforge and glue on before assembly. And version 2.0 with living hinges will be cool.
