Leather Barrettes

Finally getting around to doing my hair barrettes in leather. I’ve done them in acrylic in the past. I do like the way they came out. Super easy. I used 1/8th natural colored leather for the barrette and 1/8th black acrylic for the stick. Also used paint pens for splashes of color.

Are the sticks leather too? If yes, did you stiffen them? I can’t imagine successfully pushing those through my hair, hence the question
