Those look great. I have a wallet I’d like to try this on that I bought. How would I go about this do you think? A stiff plate (maybe aluminum?) inserted on the inside of the wallet pocket, maybe?

or a piece of wood, anything you can get a clamp against without messing up the rest of your wallet

I agree…anything you can get the clamp to squeeze against without messing up the rest of the wallet.
I’m no leather working expert, but dampening the surface of the wallet may be necessary to get a good impression.
