Leather Sugar Skull bag

Hey everyone. This is my first post in this community after being a lurker for almost a year.

This is a bag I made recently for my GF’s mom’s birthday, and someone else asked for one so I made her one too. I’m now selling these on my Etsy. It’s double sided and closes with a zipper up top.

I designed the skull and the bag pattern myself using illustrator and made this on the Glowforge. I really do this love this machine. It’s made it possible to do things I never thought possible before and much faster than I ever could before!

that looks great! i presume you’re hand coloring all of that. what are you using to color the leather?

I used leather dye from Feibings. I just mixed a few colors and diluted some.

did you use a small brush to paint the dye in?

yeah! I found some detailing brushes to paint DnD figures and they worked really well.

from her/his post

Thinking of the possibilities for a lifetime-lasting face mask (combined with a cotton or other fabric “breather” insert…)

Are you talking about like using the teeth here to put on a mask?

Yes, although it looks like I am far from the first to think along these lines…

true, but you could make a cooler option, an make it out of leather!

I’m thinking on one of those, too.

This is very cool!

It would be really cool looking–but not cool to wear–at least during summer!
