Let's Dance!

My wife and I attended my nephew’s wedding last month and did some dancing. I wanted to create an automata to commemorate the occasion and came up with this one.

A lot of 3D design and printing went into it, but the Glowforge had the responsibility for the poplar base and a few other elements.

Most importantly, my wife loved the result.

Great project - I love an automata! Your gears work so smoothly!

That is adorable! I love how their heads move! At first glance I thought you’d somehow found a way to make their eyes open and close!

it’s got a very “south park” vibe to the graphics (obviously not a south park vibe to the story).

As someone whose partner won’t dance with me, I’m charmed by everything about this!

I think my decision to use small googly eyes helps lean it in that direction!

googly eyes are the best. i literally carry a tiny little baggie of them in my pocket at all times and randomly put them on things everywhere.

Ha! We’re cut from the same cloth! They created these fox elements under some jumps where I board my horse, and it drove me nuts that they had no eyes. So, I added some BIG googly eyes!

Oh gosh that is the cutest thing I’ve seen!

My husband put googly eyes on my steering wheel to go with the Toyota logo. They’ve been there now for years.
