Clearly no one knows the MTBF other than the folk at Glowforge but I’m a moderate user and no failures in the two years since delivery.

My PRU had a fail (a centering/focus issue) that I was able to work around and they offered me a skip in line for my Production version. I declined since I could work around it (move the head before turning it on) and I figured the other people in line before me should get theirs first.
My production unit came in that December and lasted 6 or 8 months and had an issue they couldn’t fix remotely so they took it back and shipped me a new one. That one has been working fine ever since.
I’m a casual user with brief periods of near 24x7 use once or twice a year for a week or two at a time.

Just under the 2 year mark for me. I keep it clean, try not to open the lid completely, and open the lid during extreme cold and heat times (even with a blast gate closed when not in use).

I was fortunate enough to be selected for a pre-release unit that I punished for about 8 months (everyday use) before I got my own machine a couple of years ago (weekly use). No downtime.
I have no other experience with other lasers but my perception is the machine is well built, and I am well pleased with what I have produced. The glowforge paid for itself almost a year ago.

Pre-ordered a pro, and my first one failed after the 5th job. They cross-shipped the replacement, which has worked flawlessly since. So two years or so with moderate use.

Thank you all for your feedback! I’m really hoping that this third unit turns out to be awesome and that it is just bad luck that the first two had issues! Can’t wait to start creating!!
