Lost my provider of Masking tape

I recently learned the shop where I was buying my masking tape roll stopped selling it. I contacted the manufacturer and they directed me to an other seller in my region (Quebec, Canada) but it’s nearly 3x the previous cost with a too large minimum order.

So what I had : RTape Conform probably the lowest tack.

What would be a good replacement/ supplier of it?

I liked the tack, the 12in width, lasered well, thick enough you can laser it at the lowest setting to mark and position, but thin enough to easily laser through.

I don’t know if there is a distributer in your area, but the brands PerfecTear and TransferRite have both been used successfully on Glowforges for years now, so that gives you some search terms.

I’ve used the TapeManBlue stuff, and they have a storefront on Amazon Canada so there’s hope!

Not trying to be that annoying person who asks the obvious, but just to make sure:
I’m guessing you already checked Amazon, right? I have purchased R Tape on Amazon before, but I’m not in Canada.

It’s fine, I have checked, but I may not have used the right key words, it seems they have changed name? In any case I haven’t found the previous product.

Just in case this helps you find it, here is what shows up on Amazon for me (US)

Reanimation!!!

The issue continues and the one I bought on Amazon was crap like literal can’t stick a whole roll to waste.

Continuing to search for masking tape in 12in rolls.

Not sure which you bought on Amazon, but this is the stuff I’ve used.
It works beautifully, it’s available, and it specifically references it’s equivalent to the Rtape 4075RLA.

Counter-anecdote: She’s referring to Tape Man Blue. I’ve used three different brands, and this is the only one that was ever a problem. I found that it delaminated when unrolling, the paper layer peeling apart and ruining the tape. If I had to put a number to it, I’d say 25% of the roll was wasted due to that issue.

YMMV, but in my experience I think there is a reason why it’s so inexpensive. I have had much better consistency with other brands like perfectear plus.

For a deeper dive into masking sources (which may or may not be helpful in Canada, sorry!) and usage:

They definitely had a bad batch at one point, but if you reached out they fixed it with a replacement roll…

years after buying? I doubt it, but good to know. Considering it’s the Only option I have found. may not have much choice.

This is The one I bought : Amazon.ca , it’s crap

Just to be sure: you were using a tool to press it down and your materials were both clean and smooth? If the answer to any of that is no then that would explain why your masking wouldn’t stick.

It wouldn’t stick to itself

In my sleep addled state I read that as “I lost my powder of masking tape” and I was thinking, god, I have a huge quantity of that all over my GF, near my CNC, in my dust collector if you really want masking tape dust… Your’s makes way more sense.,.
