I found a scrap markdown bin at our local lumber yard (Menards). This was in the trim section. I found 3/8" Maple about 4" wide and 8 feet long for $1.99 each. All presanded and pretty good shape. You might want to check your local stores whenever you go by as I am sure it changes daily as to what is available.
