Awesome. You can display them without distracting from them. Elegant solution.

i intended them to just come down at 90 degrees to base and run 90 degrees to the mask but realized that i wouldn’t have stability and i would need to Criss cross them. but then that would mean i would need to put a half lap joint in at the top. so i was like welp i could just make one branch lower where it comes out. then was like all these hard 90’s are ugly and these are really special masks. so i just did a running spline and with each arm at a different height so they would by pass each other in a neat way . i doubled up on the base to move the center of mass to be more in favor to prevent tipping and added a layer of cork on the bottom for a little traction. these stands are 50 grams

yeh, we have had them for 2 years in our master closet stored away in safety because we had no place to display them safe where the cat wouldn’t get them. the bookshelf’s got installed this week so i made the stands last night. i have a third stand to make but its larger then those two masks ideally i should have made different size stands for each of those masks as well but they were close enough that i was like im not going to fuss over a couple of inches and just made double.

full credit where credit is due as this is a creator’s community i don’t want people to think i also made the masks. we got these masks when we went to new orleans a couple years ago. these are not the novelty masks at some tourist trap. these are hand made one of a kind (they may make say 10 of the same design but i think you know what i mean) . Hand Made Leather and Feather Masks from New Orleans and Italy for Mardi Gras and Carnival (neworleansmask.com) (1) Mask Gallery | Facebook the owner’s shop is absolutely amazing we wanted to buy so many things in it but settled on 3.

longarm.dxf (16.4 KB)
base2.dxf (2.6 KB) (cut the base 2 times as the tennon in the arms is for a two sheets of proof grade in my case one cherry and one draft board then super glued together)

Excellent work creating the perfect stand!

The design of the holder is really nice. I would think that the shop owner might be interested in something that enhances the beauty of the masks rather than detracting from it.

I just love elegant engineering. You made a solution that’s practical and really shows the masks to great effect. “Come hither and look at me” (cat magnet) yet safe from curious claws.

Lovely. However, when I used your files, both arms were identical and so don’t overlap correctly. Am I missing something?

They are indeed identical. Also, one of them has the ‘tab’ on the bottom separate from the arm, so you’d have to be careful to move them together as one piece.
