Michigan shaped bowls!

I would flip the temple “bowl” and make it a 3D relief wall hanging. Nice job!

yeah, i kept thinking the same thing. some clever accent lighting could really step it up, too.

Depending on the slope and wall thickness, you can usually stack every nth layer.

Cut out the windows and add LED lights behind. Oh the possibilities!

Anyone know the ‘offical’ name of this technique?
I would love to read more about it

I actually did this to a point. I first tried to transition to a perfect oval, but in the end it didn’t seem quite right so I split the difference between oval and what came out naturally.

Actually its not bad, which is good since I hate all the waste. You basically cut two versions, one slightly offset from the other and use all the pieces that are cut in concentric shapes. These bowls used one 12 x 20 piece of wood!

So you get 2 bowls per design?

These are really awesome, thank you for sharing!!

Beautiful Work! And welcome!

No. It’s only one bowl. All the pieces are used alternating between the two cuts. not sure if that makes sense.

Huh. I’ll have to do one to see. It just seems that they couldn’t stack because every slice fits inside the one next to it. It’s going to be a facepalm moment when I figure it out

That’s why you do two sets, of offset size.
