I challenged myself to design the biggest leather bag I could without using the Pro Passthrough. I came up with this minimalist messenger bag with very little hardware. It will fit up to most 15.6 in laptops. It’s pretty straight forward to make. The hardest part, I think, was inverting after I sewed it inside out!
Pattern is available.

Wow! Looks great!
What kind of leather did you use (weight, pre-finish, etc.)? Finish?

I used 3-4 oz veg-tanned leather from Tandy and I dyed it using the method described by Creative Awl in this video:
except I din’t use the masking tape. I don’t have the patience to wait 24 hours before getting started on the leather!

Any trouble with charred edges on the cuts?
And: thanks for the video link.

Not really. I clean the char off with a damp microfiber cloth. Veg-tanned leather is the cleanest/easiest to cut in the laser.

“I made it” is the most rewarding answer to be able to give to “cool! where did you get that?”
