That is an actual stained glass piece I had commissioned off a compass rose that I designed. So, not something I made. But a few years after this was made, I got my Glowforge, and one of the first things I made was a multi-layered version of this compass rose as one of my first projects.

Yeah. My grandfather lived to be 101, and for the last 10 years of his life, every Christmas he would get up and give a big speech starting with “This is my last Christmas…”.
That said, one does have to accept the shrinking possibilities that come with a degenerative disease. I know this from my own experience. So, @pubultrastar, I look forward to seeing some of what you do next! I’m sure you’ll have fun with it.
