My forever machine

Looks promising and intriguing. Have you ever come across this link before? It is one of the more creative sites for exploring the tranformations of planar surfaces by cutting and molding.

Thought I would try making a bamboo cutting board! I masked it before etching, and here are my settings:
Speed 700
Power 40
L.p.i.: 675
Passes: 1
I am super happy how it turned out! Now it it time to cut up some Manhog!

Sorta like a medieval woodcut (no pun intended)
or a Hieronymus Bosch work.

Ugh, I tried running a small project tonight, and my machine is still too hot

I am nearly done making my drill press/ spindle sander. Just need to add some more dowels, re work the fit of the lower clamp, and glue it up! I would like to put the design in the store for everyone.
It was done on my Glowforge Basic (when it wasn’t overheating), and requires two sheets of Proofgrade plywood.

Very clever! (If I didn’t already have a drill press I’d be making one!) :grinning:

How much is 2 sheets of proofgrade?

Maybe not $70, but, steel.

I messed up the reply on that, Sorry Jules.

Chuckle! I was a Petroleum engineer in deep water offshore Gulf of Mexico for a while. (You ought to hear my shark stories.)

Did some work in the field as a floor hand and roustabout. Do the offshore rigs have a Geronimo line, and where do they go?

Not that I was aware of. I presume that’s a zip line of sorts? (We couldn’t zip down into the Gulf.)

Yeah, that’s an escape zip line for the derek hand in case of a blowout.

Difficult choice, between a rock and a hard place.

You wanted to avoid blowouts at all costs on the platforms.

I got my email at 10pm last night, but didn’t see it until this morning (I generally check email before bed but I had to be up a lot earlier than usual today and was late going to bed so for once I didn’t, heh).

I did actually read all the stuff, and after seeing several people say the info couldn’t be accessed again once you clicked through, I also c/ped it all into a Word doc for future reference.

After seeing a report on the facebook GUG of a delivery that came with a lot of cosmetic damage, and being alerted to the fact that a cosmetic blemishes disclaimer is in the info you get when the unit ships (and it was) we did actually hesitate and have a discussion about whether we wanted to wait. I don’t want a unit with a bunch of damage, cosmetic or not. We ended up accepting delivery, but I have to admit that concern over this has dampened my excitement a good bit. I am hoping for the best, but as seems to be the case with all things GlowForge, my hopes are tempered by caution.

ETA: Pro unit, ordered day one at ~8pm (I think)

Congratulations! :grinning::boom::confetti_ball::tada:

I don’t recall any production units having that occur - it wasn’t posted here. Pretty much every picture and unboxing video shows pristine units. Do you recall who had cosmetic damage that wasn’t corrected through them getting a new fresh unit?

It’s in a couple different posts on the FB user group (from the same person).

He’s even posted the email reply from GF that says this is to be expected for now. (Cosmetic damage) They say if you don’t want it, you should delay acceptance of your unit until they are past any of that. They are replacing it, but only because of another issue, and pretty much state they won’t replace for cosmetic issues.
