My new toothbrush holder

I made a toothbrush holder not long after i got my GF. made it out of BB as a “proof of concept.” 5 years later, we were still using it and it was starting to get a little grody (despite the coating). my wife has been pushing me to make a new one out of acrylic, and i finally did and finished it this weekend. it’s designed to hold our quip toothbrushes (and has 2 extra toothbrush slots), the colgate toothpaste we use, and my tongue scraper. Made out of green glass acrylic (medium and thick) and medium white acrylic.

That looks great. Are the sides actually curved. It is a very nice look.

Nice practical cut. I am certain that this one will last more than the 5 years you got from the BB one.

thanks!

no, that’s probably just a little bit of optical illusion. it’s flat, but there is a curve on the edges and that’s probably adding to the illusion.

Nice job! Good there is a place for the tongue scraper!

using a tongue scraper was an amazing addition to my oral cleaning habits. it really helps keep bad breath at bay. and it’s good for your teeth and gums, too.

Very nice, here’s one I made about 3ish years ago too and been working like a champ all this time.

That’s the best material choice for that application, and it’s washable. Nice job on the stand. :sunglasses:

Never tried a tongue scraper. A couple of decades ago, I reasoned it’s the bacterial by-products that cause oral problems from plaque to decay to gingivitis to bad breath, so that was the target. I started using an antiseptic mouthwash exclusively, vigorously brushing my entire mouth including my tongue (underside too!), cheeks, and massaging gums. No trace of bad breath (or dental caries) in decades. No ‘skin’ on your teeth in the morning either. I don’t even use toothpaste since the brush itself is abrasive enough. Surprisingly, coffee stain isn’t an issue either.

I have a problem when I finish designing a practical solution thinking “It would be so easy to embellish it now…”

you should try a tongue scraper. it’s WAY more effective than the brush on your tongue. first couple of times i used one, it was kinda gross how much you scrape off.

my dentist will give me free plastic ones after my appointments, but in the long term, i liked this metal one better.

I like that it’s acrylic so it can actually be cleaned up

The green glass acrylic always puts on a nice show. Very attractive!

The only thing I’d change (because I keep wanting to do it on the one I have) is cut lines so water can drain out. We end up with water pooling in ours - but yours is flat so that may not be an issue!

i don’t have any place it can pool. there’s a middle shelf, but it’s not against the bottom plate. hopefully it will rinse off easily.
