My take on the "book box" - What do you think?

Hi everyone! Here’s my new design. It is a “Mini book box”

I always see the super round back for book boxes that are either a flexible joint design or slats inserted into round holders. I tried to make something a little different then what I’ve seen. This is a fairly simple design and easy to put together. My goal was to create a sliding book box design that looked a little more like a real book.

It uses 2 magnets that are optional. Inside drawer has a slot for picking up playing cards of a flat front to store other items that might fall out. If you want to store cards in this, it will fit 60 sleeved cards or whatever else you want to store!

I’m pretty happy with how it came out and would love your thoughts. It’s super hard creating something original in laser cutting and I hope this feels a little different…open to ideas/feedback.

I think it’s awesome! Love the spine and the slot is a great option.

The fact that the spine is the drawer is definitely unusual - it looks great!

Nice, clean design. The way the details all fit together shows how much thought went into the design, both mechanical and artistic. I really like it.

Thanks for sharing.

I didn’t even realize the spine wasn’t curved until I read the description, then looked again at the pics.

Well done.

Yes, the spine is the attraction for me … and of course that it opens a drawer!

Oooo, lovely! I like that the joints don’t shout “laser cut”—very tastefully done.

Thanks! It was supposed to be an illusion of a curved back. Happy it worked! Appreciate the positive comments as always.

Very nice! Like everyone else, I love that spine! Definitely makes it look more like a real book. And I love how the spine and “pages” stain is different than the covers. Great touch!
