So, im tinkering with making my own nail stamping plates, i tried etching anodized aluminium in a weaker laser, did not work, would the first gen GF do a better job?
Any thoughts on making the plates?
No idea on nail stamping plates, but the can definitely do anodised aluminium
Including the PG setting for Apple MacBooks.
They can take off the color coating from anodized but that’s not deep at all, unlikely to be enough for nail stamping.
On the other hand, paint coated metal objects maybe. I engraved some black flasks once that got surprisingly deep before hitting the metal layer.
To actually make a mark on metal the laser would need to be in the multi-kilowatt range and the price near six figures. On the other hand, if you lasered off some material that can stand up to acid and then put the result in that acid to dissolve the metal you might get the result you are looking for.
Ive tried anodized scales for chainmaille in the gf before, but dont remember how deep it went, i only have sporadic access to it
Seems it prob wont go deeper then
Ill probably try just in case.
Do you think it needs to be commercially made like powder coat, or would a few layers och black spraypaint work?
I also have access to plasti dip
The problem is the acrylic melts from the acetone cleaning
You could try denatured alcohol for cleaning. I think the acrylic will hold up fairly well to that, although you might see some crazing long term.
She might have just used them once, and tossed them.
Worth a try i guess ^^
