Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing it. Did you stain the top piece? You say you cut from one sheet after resizing it, so I wondered if you had used a stain to darken the top part.

No, it is 1/4” Walnut (Columbia Forest), but you can and also use 1/8 “.
