You don’t need to do anything. In almost all cases, IP addresses are assigned dynamically by the router as each device connects - in this case, your phone. There are technical reasons it is often limited to just over 250 devices but obviously that would not apply here.
In short, your laptop and your GF can both connect to a phone with wifi sharing enabled.
Thank you for the information. That didn’t work for me. I am hoping my traveling circus will work better for me when I go to the art center on Thursday. They have wifi and I’m giving myself two hours of setup time.
These aren’t GF specific but I think the sizes could work. It’s an article about inexpensive DIY collapsible gear carts/stations for film making. They all break down flat.
