New idea/feature

A couple days ago I asked if you could make something brand new for laser engraving industry what feature would you make or add. This got me thinking about different ideas. This is what I came up with and if Glowforge can make it happen in the next machine that would be awesome.

I really like some of your concepts here but I’m afraid several of them would be though nuts to crack.
I’d probably ditch the touch pad under in favor of maybe a touch pad off to the side?

I’d like a bullet list of ideas. I don’t have patience for video.

Video isn’t searchable either.

Jump to 1:45 in the video to skip intro, then it’s back to back info.

Main point is 3d projected images (like framing feature but more advanced that can do color or full engraving preview and live engraving match) Also using this projection to show when to clean lenses or other maintenance or where to place objects to engrave etc. (you’ll need the video for example photos and videos).

Secondary building off this idea was an Ai assisted button to ask the laser questions about settings or max material size, upcoming maintenance, etc. but all of this makes more sense with the photos and videos in the video.

Then I was building off of the original concept photo was touch screen bed that works in conjunction with the projector but not really needed and probably wouldn’t work well.

Lastly building further off the touch screen is a direct draw on the screen kinda like Glowforge’s trace but without the need of paper scanning.

Yeah I figured it wouldn’t work with the touch screen so much but that was an afterthought based on the concept photo however the holographic box idea I originally thought they wouldn’t be able to do either but I seen this today (see photo) and that would be awesome to have interactive holograms lol

Reminds me of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes! And, of course, Iron Man.

This won’t be trivial to do with any greater accuracy than the current camera method.

Difficult, not impossible, and likely not cheap hardware. Probably out of reach for a consumer machine, but I dunno. It’d be a nice surprise.
