On newsstands now: my latest Toy Inventor’s Notebook DIY project in Make magazine — a magnetic mystery maze game for one or two players. Glowforge makes it easy!

a) looks like a fun game

b) major congratulations on being published in Make! That’s a big enough magazine to be majorly proud.

c) i read Make cover to cover and have never made a project directly from it, lots of inspiration for other projects but never right off the pages, maybe this will change that?

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!

I’m coming up on 20 years writing for Make, with over 60 projects for them. Admittedly the “build rate” is low, but I see my role as a toy designer is to do articles that are fun to read, toyetic and visually interesting and colorful.

Luckily I’m in Glowforge’s hometown and Dan Shapiro and crew have been very supportive. It’s my pleasure to share the features and capabilities of the Glowforge system of cutters and materials! It sure makes doing these projects easy and fun for me and for the readers of Make.

I’m old enough (pre-self publishing) to think being published in any real magazine is brag-worthy

Oh, I completely agree, so something that is in most bookstores goes double. I was published once by a now-defunct special interest magazine called Recumbent Cyclist News, and I’ll always keep my copy.

Congratulations! That looks fun! I never even look at magazines, so didn’t know this one existed. I think you should put it in the catalog. Then you’ll at least get paid every time someone prints it.

That’s awesome! Do most of the articles you have published for them have designs that can be made with a Glowforge?
