New variation on my watchband

I needed to make a new larger band this weekend. I was having problems deciding on the color of thread. I like the look of the vinegar black leather. I have used off-white, red, and brown. But I wan something too match my mood. Plus I like mixing mediums. I was going to stitch in a piece of veneer, but on my walk last night I had a better idea…

I cut a slot and inserted a piece of bamboo veneer on each side of the band.

Now I can make hundreds of inserts.

I used black acrylic paint to darken the engrave (the bamboo is really light). Sanded it down and added a stain.

Red marker and stain.

First set of inserts.

The light blue in the band is watercolor with a clear coat.

Clever idea. :slightly_smiling_face:

Very nice! Kinda makes me wish I didn’t have such skinny wrists; there’s barely room for anything between the watch and the buckle on mine!

Great idea! Now you can match every patterned shirt in your closet.
