My 3D sculpting evolved slowly from doing very geometric CAD stuff to some more organic sculpting. I still have a long way to go to feel really proficient, but have been able to make some cool things (e.g., here is my video on how to sculpt 3D Celtic knots: https://youtu.be/vwuBbdCD0L0 ). The big leap came when I started playing with Nomad Sculpt. It is pretty easy to get started with that.
