Nonlaser things that I think GFers will find interesting

Eventually, I think they will be, just like combustion engines for transportation. Evolving technology disrupts the standard.

Very similar thing happened to my family when I was about 9. Ours was at a river camp, so not as many structures to damage, but also fewer places to hide.

Listening to the news a lot of the loud noise was gunfire with many folks killed in different cities. There is someone nearby with a gun (AK?) that he shoots off anytime there is an excuse for fireworks. The difference in sound is very distinct.

That’s been one hard thing for us to still try to get used to here. We have people shooting off guns all the time, including automatics. 4th of July and New Year’s aren’t any different, but I always wonder if someone won’t take advantage of the fireworks and try to cover a horrendous deed being done. When we lived in Nevada, (and yes, I do realize we crossed state lines, many in fact, and are now in Tennessee ) it was illegal to shoot a gun anywhere in the county if you were anywhere near any residences. But here, even some of our close neighbors shoot them throughout the year. Nothing worse than sitting on your deck and hearing gunfire close by. We just pray no stray bullets come by.

Something I was worried about until eventually I was not seeing stray bullet holes.

Us either. But we have some not-so-pleasant neighbors that always seem to have the cops looking for them. One, however, that we’ve spoken to a few times, is very aware that Marc used to be in law enforcement, and is under the impression that Marc is always packing. Works pretty nicely to our advantage.

The way Florida is getting with concealed carry unregulated, anything that was a shouting match can become murder in self-defense as the other could have had a concealed weapon. Back to the Old West that quickest draw wins.

Moving right along to steer away from something that’s likely to end up getting this thread closed…

Mohit sometimes posts short build videos on Instagram. (There is also a fairly inactive YouTube channel.)

Is it wrong that I want this thing in my tiny workshop?

I always want more light. Always.

Have a feeling that would be a little too bright!

They don’t list a price, and I’m not curious enough to contact them but…

Oh this is fun, a tile pattern generator. No way to export that I can see but still kind of cool.

Interesting! I have been making seamless tiles for fabric printing recently. So, timely, too.

Very nice little thing. I did a screenshot, but afterwards noticed that I could left click, save as a png. Then turned it into BW. Not the greatest resolution, but it might be something that could be adapted for use if one wanted to put in the time.

I would also hit MidJourney with something like: ornamental tile pattern, stencil, black and white, high contrast, vector, white background

These were just the first two sets and they would be easy to convert into SVG in Inkscape.
