I don’t know if the plumber or the electrician is the issue here, but one of them should be hightailing it to a non-extradition country!
I think the way is a mix of the powders of two different metals and a wax-like binding agent. You make the 3d part and toss it into an oven. The binding agent removes all oxygen while where the two metals are touching the melting point is lower than either metal and as the bind spreads the more distant (by microns) metal becomes less of the volume. So the melting point of the connection rises. With precisely the right time and temps your 3d print is solid (though porus) metal.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a significant number of us will be interested in this video of a guy who took a kind of rickety metal bandsaw and upgraded a bunch of different ways:
I like his video style, he gets right down to business and doesn’t waste a lot of time on intros and other nonsense. He just kind of steers clear all that dumb YouTube cruft and gets right to the good stuff.
Pask does some great projects and his videos are so well done.
I really like his milling machine and lathe… I don’t need more tools. I don’t need more tools.
Has anybody tried Meshy.ai yet? I gave it one of my usual cat-type prompts and here is what I got:
model.obj (4.2 MB)
Interestingly, if you rotate it around you’ll find the back of the cat’s head has a couple cat faces mapped onto it. Also, I did not get the tail wrapped around the toes.
I could actually 3D print and hand paint this model.
I would presume that falls under persistence of vision, the same way we see light bulbs as steady light despite their flickering…but honestly I’ve no clue.
I did have that line bouncing around as my screensaver for years though
It is interesting the way the line or cube seems to fade out of my vision when I hit pause. It’s not just gone instantly.
If you move your eyes around back-and-forth really quickly it’ll also disappear. I’m assuming because you don’t have a static view of the screen so the persistence of vision thing doesn’t work
New word search game from the NYT.
Happy cake day!
And a happy cake day from here also!
I really do want a vacuum former but I’ve got to make room for it. It’s also something you can make yourself if you are already making.
Pretty fun!
I obviously don’t need this, as I can’t imagine what I would use it for.
You’re “helping”!
The one in this video is a Makyu Formbox:
Okay, well now that sounds like fun! But the price…I can go to Hobby Lobby and buy a ton of molds for that price! But yeah, for specialized things…and to have a new toy to play with…
