Just some cheap origami paper from Michael’s. Actually engraves fairly well, some paper colors seem to pop a little better than others, but if you’re engraving on the white/back side you can barely see the engrave. I’ve been sending my girlfriend secret messages through origami cranes, but she doesn’t know yet.

Awww. That’s sweet.
We folded 1000 origami cranes for our wedding (cranes mate for life), so that is a special symbol for my husband and I. Our wedding logo (YES, WE HAD A WEDDING LOGO) was a “woodcut” of an origami crane with our initials intertwined.
Anyway, I love this idea.
A long time ago it was believed that if anyone folded a thousand cranes they would be granted one wish.
But now it is just a symbol of friendship. I guess to many peopled folded the cranes and didn’t get their wish…
Yeah, it’s still part of the mythology, but since everyone knows that part, I don’t bother mentioning it. Cranes also symbolize long life.
So far so good on the wishing AND the mating for life, but only time will tell for us!
sadly only picture I took. Yellow (her favorite color), light blue, and light purple have the secret messages (engraved in the white side). My goal is to eventually make her a gift what would reveal that there are secret messages in the cranes. I got lots of ideas and no idea how to do them lol.
I folded my wife dozens of origami roses while we were dating.
She pointed out that I stopped after we were married… and now I even forgot the pattern.
I need to look it up again and fold her one as a surprise for Mother’s Day!

I think smaller text, like a quote from a book, would make an interesting look.

I cut one awhile back out of acrylic. I cut more, but adjusted the file for the thickness of the acrylic and removed the score lines because they looked weird on the acrylic as well.
She is going to love these - especially the hidden messages.
