Do you flip neighboring gears to accommodate the slant of the cuts? I seem to get better long term consistency doing this.

Beautiful! That form made me think “somebody should make an orrery watch”. Then the @evansd2’s voice in the back of my head said “you should google search it”. Well I guess someone did. but it costs $245,000

Are the gears set up such that the phase go the moon is accurate as per the date selected?

You can rotate the engraved date plate to line it up. The gear ratios make to moon orbit the earth the right number of times, so i could set the alignment to like full moon, and then spin the date disc to reflect the right date, if that makes sense.
