Just playing around here. I wanted to see how well ostrich shell (which I have several pieces of broken shell) would engrave. I dipped the cleaned shell in some royal blue Pysanky shell dye, then after it dried I engraved it in my Aura. The image was inverted so the engraved parts would be pale and unengraved portions would stay blue. I was very pleased by the result. In an additional plus, the kitty’s eyes are blue.
Wow. That is cool
I would not have guessed that you would get such detail with this material and machine. Fantastic!
That is super cool! What a great idea to dye the shell first.
That is a beautiful test piece. Great choice on the blue dye.
Absolutely amazing!!! Love the blue eyes.
Engraving on unexpected materials is my favorite kind of thing
So very cool!
That is beautiful! Well done.
Its really nice that the shell would engrave so nicely. Very cool idea.
Without reading your description, my first thought was, “This is such a cool tie.” Then I read your description, and I thought the same. It’s such a cool shell, and I immediately noticed the eyes. How great that is.
I love this “test piece” as you call it, but I find such wonder in your artistry. It’s beautiful.
Regards,
Michael
Great engraving technique on a shell. I really like the design.
This turned out amazing!
Absolutely gorgeous. That the shadows under the cat are blue tones really makes it look good!
Wow, those kitty eyes are really something! Definitely gives this piece personality. You did a fantastic job. I never think about engraving on other materials like that. I still have some rocks I picked up on a trip to KY that I still haven’t engraved on! And that trip was months ago!
What an eggcellent result
Looks so good. Great job
Ostrich shell is pretty unusual. Nice results!!!
Wow! What marvelous results!
P.S. I love your ring!
Beautiful! I’m so proud of you for trying something new (and sharing it)!
Seriously stunning! The detail is incredible, the blue eyes are perfection and the use of a unique material is inspired. Really love it
What a great idea! This is quite inspiring, thanks for sharing!
