You are probably getting as tired of seeing me posting these painted media projects as my wife is for me interrupting her to present my newest attempt… but here ya go anyway.
I’m having a heck of a time getting my grayscale to create smooth gradients. This one also suffers from banding (going to clean the belts and gantry rails now), but while it wasn’t the look I was going for I still like the results. These actually take some prep time and effort to create and you are never sure what is going to come through and what gets removed, you just have to guesstimate where to place your colors on the canvas. Below are the painting steps to get to the readied surface.
I am always delighted to see your painted/glowforged canvases, the results are always so interesting and beautiful. I also like how you describe your process, it makes it more approachable…
No…they’re great…and so much fun. You never know exactly what you’re going to get when they’re finished. My grandson and I prepared a bunch of these boards for future projects. He made one out of one of his own drawings to give to his ‘other’ grandma.
That’s my image. It’s called “The Venetian and The Mummy”
My canvas has been gasso’d with layers of
Blue/yellow + green
Blue/red + purple
Yellow/red + orange
50/50 green / purple
Brown derived from remaining green/purple mix and some raw sienna with white to lighten.
