I have some slate, marble and granite tile left over from flooring projects that I almost disposed of. I am inspired to etch some photographs in stone!
Surprised how low a power setting will etch stone. Thermal shock I presume.
Marble will probably work best, then slate, then granite. Granite is not a uniform material but is made up of several different types of rocks, so etching is inconsistent and unpredictable.
