Playing with leather

Used the template from here: https://community.glowforge.com/t/free-design-hair-barrettes/

To make these guys. It’s my first time painting leather so now I gotta figure out how to seal them

Nice. I have been experimenting a lot with leather lately also. Most of my projects just involved dying. What type of paint are you using?

Tip…if you resize the holes, you can use free restaurant chopsticks.

To seal my leather designs, I typically use some leather shene to seal the smooth side, and some mink oil on the back (use golden mink oil if you don’t want the leather to darken as much after application).

Leather shene: Eco-Flo Satin Shene — Tandy Leather, Inc.

Mink oil: Fiebing Golden Mink Oil Preserver — Tandy Leather, Inc.

Of course, there are probably as many ways to finish off leather goods as there are leather workers. Sometimes it is helpful to stop by a local leather shop, and ask what they would recommend.
