Pokémon Ball engagement ring box

My glowforge made this possible. I got craft wooden half-balls and used the glowforge to mark the hinge, ring, and magnet holes as well as create a lip with an even recessed surface (for felt later). (The jig needed to do this was hilarious, trying to get the rounded wood halves level) I had to use a dremel to get to the depth needed, but used the glowforge again for the wood button on the outside and all of the felt for both halves. After a million attempts at stains to get the right shade, I think it turned out great and he loves it. He wanted a little Pokémon Center to use as a display, so thanks to my forge I put a little one together.

I doubt folks without a Glowforge would appreciate the efforts and redos that you had to work through to get this excellent result. Well done!

8mm barrel hinge, I had never heard of them before and it took a few tries to get the hang of it. Very neat. 4Pcs/Pack 8mm Barrel Hinge,Ring… Amazon.com
