Pokémon Chess Set for Son

I have not shared my work for quite some time. I made this Pokémon chess set for my 28 year old son who lives 600 miles away. Due to the COVID virus, I have not physically seen him in over a year. This took me 1-1/2 weeks to make. Credits go to Thingaverse for the 3D files and Pokémon for the images. The set is 20”x20”x5”. I had to do it in a lot of sections. I can’t wait til he sees it.

That looks amazing! Did you coat the surface in resin?

Wow nice work, and dedication. The 3d printing must have taken quite a while.

Yes, I used resin. I was afraid if I did not protect it somehow that the etching would peel off in spots.

It did. My Drexel 3D 45 printer has single roll filament, so support material was a nightmare! Many evenings spent cursing while pulling out support material😆

Distance from our loved ones has been really tough. What an amazing gift! Hope he has an idea of how much time you put into this. Really fantastic.
