Is it okay to poly coat my boards before coating or is it toxic/a bad idea for any reason?
I don’t know what your search terms were, but it’s come up several times. I only know because I had asked a similar question once many moons ago. The proofgrade stuff is already precoated, there are similar threads to this one:
You can safely coat it, you must let it fully dry, and make sure what you are using has nothing in it that could damage the laser.

As for search terms if you want to go deeper: Searching for “prefinishing” or “prefinished” should find them.
